Skylight & Sun was founded in 1972 by Berkeley businessman Richard Nagler as an outgrowth of his burgeoning plastics company. After establishing a name for himself buying and selling plastics, Richard started accepting contracts to blow bubbles for local skylight companies. Eventually, the company’s capabilities expanded into welding the frames and manufacturing the skylights.
Over time, Richard continued to improve and refine his designs, resulting in the industry-leading quality that Skylight & Sun is known for. Somewhere along the way, the company began distributing VELUX skylights, and has since gone onto become the largest VELUX dealer in the Bay Area.
A new chapter for Skylight & Sun begin in 2006 when Berkeley entrepreneur Robert Singer acquired the business from Richard. Bob is proud to continue Skylight & Sun’s tradition of providing the best quality skylights and old-fashioned customer service. To this day, Skylight & Sun works with leading Bay Area contractors and roofers, as well as numerous happy homeowners.
